Firefighters Board Derelict Processing Ship After Crew Reports Ammonia Leak – A derelict fish processing ship caused an ammonia scare in Kodiak when two crewmembers living onboard the vessel reported a leak. Kodiak firefighters were joined by Coast Guard firefighters on Monday in responding to reports of a leak on the 169-foot Pacific Producer, according to the Kodiak Daily Mirror. OSHA Hazard Alert “Ammonia Safety in Wineries” – CalOSHA has recently released a new publication, Hazard Alert – Ammonia Safety In Wineries, highlighting the hazards associated with using anhydrous ammonia in wineries. Evacuations Ordered After Strange Odor in Downtown LA – A 500-foot exclusion zone was issued near downtown Los Angeles around the Arts District following reports of a strange odor. Initial reports said that an ammonia spill was the cause but officials later clarified that there was a chemical leak coming from machinery on a roof at 400 Central Avenue, near the intersection of 4th Street.
