Mechanical Integrity 101 | Ceiling Suspended Air-Cooling Evaporators
When performing a mechanical integrity inspection of a ceiling suspended air-cooling evaporator, it is vital that the nuts and washers which are used to attach the unit to it’s support are sufficiently tight. All-to-often we find nuts that have loosened due to vibration or missing washers. A ceiling suspended evaporator is designed to be supported from each of its support points. When one of those support points is not contributing to the overall unit load, it increases the stress on the support points which are left. If this is allowed to continue it can have catastrophic consequences. Please take the time to double-check each ceiling suspended evaporator at your facility to ensure that your equipment is safely supported.
