Scheduling a PHA (Part 2)
To ensure that adequate time is allotted for performing a PHA, it is important to schedule it in advance. It is not uncommon to begin preparation 2-4 months prior to the due date to secure an opportune time to conduct the study. Planning several months in advance, helps provide opportunity to prepare or update the Process Safety Information (PSI), which must be available during the PHA. When possible, conduct the PHA close to the RMP submission due date so that the PHA and RMP due dates remain on the same 5-year schedule. When scheduling a PHA, team member preferences such as workload, seasonality, or vacations should be accommodated. The PHA team will be considered in greater detail in the next blog.
